Smith Confirms Red State is Next
Kevin Smith is a determined man; you have to respect that. Even though he can’t seem to find anyone who will cough up the coin needed to fund his next movie, the heady horror film “>Red State, he’s not about to give up and just go back to making comedies.
“I didn’t get into the business to make comedies, even though I do make comedies and that’s what I like.” Smith explained in a recent interview with MTV, ”I got in the business to make film, like I’m a filmmaker, and films are full of ideas, and full of outlooks, and full of opinions, and done with artistry or whatnot. I’ve never been accused of being an artist, but that’s chiefly what films are.”
It’s the bleakness of Red State, and the fact that Kevin Smith and horror don’t exactly go hand-in-hand, that’s keeping investors away, but he did say it will be his next film, despite what some places have said about his space comedy. “The space movie isn’t quite ready yet and won’t be ready for a little while, and then we haven’t even thought about casting. If I put in it, I have to wait until Seth [Rogan]’s free, and Seth, as we all know, is a very busy actor right now.”
As always, we wish Kevin the best, though personally I think he’s just looking for the money in the wrong places. All Smith has to do is have one sit-down with Uwe Boll and we could have a powerhouse duo on our hands the likes of which the horror world has never seen!
