We told you about the short film The Infected a while back, but now the film is online for all to see! Read on for all the details regarding the whens and wheres!

From the Press Release:
Writer/director Barry Morgan (Arcana) and actress/writer/producer Helenna Santos (American Reunion, BlackBox TV) have released the award-winning short horror film The Infected on indiereign.com

In addition to Santos, The Infected also stars Jerod Meagher (Cinemax’s “Banshee,” ABCs of Death 2), Austin Hillebrecht (“Grimm,” Arcana), Melissa Katzin (The Forgotten), and Alexandra Boylan (Home Sweet Home). The film’s director of photography is John K.D. Graham (Home Sweet Home) with sound design by Sam Read (“Z Nation”) and an original score by Austin Hillebrecht.

“This project is 15 minutes of pure horror fun.” Morgan stated. “We wanted to make a biological horror film that examines physical and mental illness within a claustrophobic setting, and thanks to amazing performances from the cast, I believe we achieved our goal. I am a card-carrying horror geek, and I’m proud of this film as a producer as well as viewer.

Santos added: “A bomb is what sets everything in motion, and it’s about ‘war’ in a sense… the war with each other and the war within ourselves and what it is that makes us human when we are stripped to our most primal state. What we are left with is pretty ugly really. To me the bomb and the infection and the fact that these people incubate it in the apartment is a metaphor for how a darkness inside of us breeds and grows when there is no ‘light’ coming in… the dark side of the souls takes over.”

Synopsis:
Four friends meet to celebrate their college graduation when a dirty bomb containing a highly contagious and lethal virus explodes in Los Angeles. Quarantined together in a tiny apartment, they pass the time with drugs, sex, and alcohol.

As the effects of the virus begin to set in, a sickness invades their bodies, and they all turn on one another in a battle to survive. Little do they know, the plague outside the front door is nowhere near as strong as the illness they’ve created inside.
