It Follows Opens Big Despite Limited Release; New Poster

David Robert Mitchell’s It Follows (review) may have only opened on a paltry four screens on Friday the 13th, but that didn’t stop it from raking in the dough.

The film pulled in $163,453 for an impressive per-screen average of $40,863. As a result expect Radius, the specialty arm of The Weinstein Company, to continue to roll out the film in weeks to come. That’s right, it may even end up playing by you! Or… you could just order it on VOD.

In other news, check out this new retro poster for the film below. Could be my favorite one. Did you see the movie this weekend? If so, tell us what you thought in the comments section below.

With a riveting central performance from Maika Monroe and a strikingly ominous electronic score by Disasterpeace, It Follows is an artful psychosexual thriller from David Robert Mitchell (The Myth of the American Sleepover).

The film also stars Keir Gilchrist (“The United States of Tara”), Daniel Zovatto (Laggies), Jake Weary (“Chicago Fire”), Olivia Luccardi (“Orange Is the New Black”), and Lili Sepe (Spork).

Synopsis:
For 19-year-old Jay (Monroe), the fall should be about school, boys, and weekends at the lake. Yet, after a seemingly innocent sexual encounter, she suddenly finds herself plagued by nightmarish visions; she can’t shake the sensation that someone, or something, is following her. As the threat closes in, Jay and her friends must somehow escape the horrors that are only a few steps behind.
