Shockingly, this latest news about Rob Zombie’s 31 didn’t come from the rocker-turned-filmmaker’s Facebook page.  Instead, word that Alchemy has acquired North American distribution rights to the horror film that just began production in Los Angeles came to us from Deadline.

The film stars Sheri Moon Zombie, Richard Brake, Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs, Jeff Daniel Phillips, Lew Temple, Meg Foster, and Malcolm McDowell. The deal was sealed by Alchemy CEO Bill Lee, who has been on quite a roll since restructuring and re-branding Millennium Entertainment.

“Rob Zombie is a true artist and master filmmaker at the height of his game,” Lee said. “With 31 he’s creating yet another terrifyingly immersive and twisted world that will delight audiences. Alchemy’s mission is to connect exceptional storytellers with existing and new fans, and we look forward to doing so with Rob’s latest work.”

Zombie wrote the script, and he is producing with Andy Gould, Matthew Perniciaro, Michael Sherman, Eddie Vaisman, and Mike Elliott. Mike Goodridge, Buddy Patrick, Robert Ogden Barnum, and Kevin Frakes serve as executive producers with Robert “Corpsy” Rhine, Bradley Curneal, Blayne Fender, Brain Slagel, Eric Thirteen, and Chris “Woody” McElroy. Bow and Arrow Entertainment and Spectacle Entertainment Group are producing the picture alongside Protagonist Pictures, the latter of which is handling international sales.

Zombie said he was “thrilled to work with a company sharing the same vision for my film 31 as I have. Alchemy has committed to bringing the most intense experience possible to the screen.”

The film stars Jeff Daniel Phillips as Roscoe; Jane Carr as Sister Serpent; Richard Brake as Doom-Head; Ginger Lynn as Cherry Bomb, Doom-Head’s very special friend; Malcolm McDowell as Father Murder, the owner of Murder World; Judy Geeson as Sister Dragon; David Ury as Schizo-Head; Daniel Roebuck as Pastor Victor; Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs as Panda Thomas, the manager of a traveling roadshow known as “The Venus Lux Happy Time Fun Show”; Pancho Moler as Sick-Head; Tracy Walter as Lucky Leo; E.G. Daily as Sex-Head; and Torsten Voges as Death-Head as well as Sheri Moon Zombie, Lew Temple, Bari Suzuki, and Devin Sidell.

Synopsis:
31 follows five carnival workers who are kidnapped the night before Halloween and held hostage in a large secret compound known as Murder World. Once there, they have 12 hours to survive a terrifying game called 31 in which “The Heads” – murderous maniacs dressed as clowns – are released to hunt them down and kill them.
