One-Woman Play Anna, In the Darkness Premiering at Hollywood Fringe Festival
The Hollywood Fringe Festival (running June 11-28) is home to a lot of cool events, and one that landed on our radar recently is the West Coast premiere of the critically acclaimed one-act one-woman play Anna, In the Darkness, an American Studio Theater presentation at The Lounge Theatre.
Anna, In the Darkness, a riveting and haunting psychological thriller penned by Chicago playwright Jeremy Menekseoglu and featuring captivating Los Angeles actress Rebecca Lincoln, is directed by Amanda Weier and features chilling sound design by Mark McClain Wilson. It was, in fact, written specifically for Lincoln (pictured below) over 10 years ago.
Synopsis:
A small town teacher is barricaded in her house as an angry mob gathers outside, howling for blood and justice. Playwright Jeremy Menekseoglu has crafted a tale where the menace is far scarier – and more profound – than brainless zombies or creeping vampires. Anna, In the Darkness will have the audience pondering what is real and what is delusory up until the very end.
All performances will be at The Lounge Theatre, 6201 Santa Monica Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90038 (50-minute runtime):
