Taylor Kinney Burns Down The Forest
More casting news has come in for The Forest, the haunting new feature film which delves into the horrors of Japan’s Aokigahara Forest. Deadline is reporting that “Chicago Fire’s” Taylor Kinney is the next to sign up for some spooky.
He’ll star alongside Natalie Dormer (“Game of Thrones”) and Michiel Huisman in the film that is based on an idea by David Goyer (Blade Trinity, The Unborn) and incorporates the mythology of Japan’s most notorious forest.
Based on an original idea by The Dark Knight screenwriter David S. Goyer, The Forest is set in Japan’s Aokigahara Forest at the base of Mt. Fuji. The story follows a young American woman (Dormer) who goes in search of her missing twin sister. Despite everyone’s warnings to “stay on the path,” Sara enters the forest determined to discover the truth about her sister’s fate, only to be confronted by the angry and tormented souls of the dead who prey on anyone who wanders the forest.
Newcomer Jason Zada will direct from a script rewritten by Sarah Cornwell and Nick Antosca. Focus Features has picked up North American rights to the feature and is planning a wide domestic release January 8, 2016.
The film shoots in Serbia in May.
