Lake Placid vs. Anaconda Premieres This Saturday; Syfy Releases Trailer
One has to wonder just how much faith Syfy has in its original movie Lake Placid vs. Anaconda given that the network waited until about 48 hours before the film’s premiere to put out a trailer for it.
Syfy has been cranking out Lake Placid and Anaconda TV sequels for several years now so why not a versus film? I’m sure it sounded like a great idea on paper; based on this preview it looks to be less so on film.
Yancy Butler returns as a character presumably killed in a previous Lake Placid sequel. Robert England looks to be playing the same character that got killed in the opening minutes of Hatchet. The crocodile effects look like holdovers from the previous made-for-TV sequels. The anaconda… Ugh. The anaconda looks like a digital effect nobody finished rendering.
I ask in all seriousness: Was the film production so rushed they didn’t have time to finish the effects, or was the budget not there?
IMDB lists the plot as “a giant alligator goes head to head with a giant anaconda. The town sheriff must find a way to destroy the two monsters before they kill the whole town.”
Either whoever submitted that synopsis doesn’t know the difference between a crocodile and an alligator or they decided to scrap the continuity of the previous Lake Placid films by changing the creature’s species.
Lake Placid vs. Anaconda premieres this Saturday night at 9/8 Central.
Is it just me or is the anaconda looking a tad anorexic? Poor thing looks like it’s starving. No wonder it wants to eat a monstrous crocagator.
