Exclusive: Kitamura Uses Real Meat
Midnight Meat Train is one of those movies we’ve been hearing about for so long at so many stages of development that it almost seems too good to be true that it’s finally happening. But it is, folks, and with none other than Ryuhei (Versus) Kitamura at the helm. Could you ask for anything cooler?
Today we received word from a source close to production that Kitamura is currently involved in re-designing the creatures that will be at the heart of Meat Train. The plan is to use almost all practical effects, as little CG as possible, which I’m sure Ryuhei will have no problem pulling off considering his history.
The casting net is out for a female lead as well as the role of Mahogany (aka The Subway Butcher); expect to hear news on both soon as cameras are set to roll in Los Angeles on March 5th.
We also got word that Meat Train writer Jeff Buhler has another project close to becoming a reality that may see him making his debut behind the camera. It’s called Insanitarium and deals with a doctor in a psychiatric hospital who’s experimenting with a new drug that turns his patients into cannibalistic psychos (the worst kind). Something about cannibals must really appeal to this guy…
We’ll have more on both projects before you know it, so don’t make any leaving plans!
