Getting to the point in any presentation, whether it be a 2-hour film, or a sub 10-minute quickie, is pertinent; and in rookie director Kieran Corcoran’s mini mind-bender State of Mind, you’ll be left wondering, “Was there even a point?”

Not to say that my previous statement was to be taken in a negative light, although after giving this one a look, I’m still not quite sure of what I’ve seen, and I can thank Mr. Corcoran for twisting my skull around in such a short period of time.

This one-woman display follows a young lady (Alexander) who might or not not be remorseful after committing a murder, and added to those feelings of remorse (or the absence thereof), her problem grows when the body disappears into thin air. Her night continues to spiral downhill when she cannot rest until she locates the cadaver, and that’s where I’ll drop the tourists. Come on… the friggin short is less than 10 minutes!

Corcoran throws a mini-curveball in this display, and it works for nothing other than to make you scratch your head after the credits roll. Everything is open to interpretation here, and it’s mildly amusing for a one-timer if you’re up for it. Draw your own conclusions, but my state of mind on this one is not to repeat a viewing.
