Don’t Let the Light In (Short)
Starring Will Garrett Davis, Rebecca Larken, Justin Reich
Directed by Jaysen P. Buterin
The age-old “frightened babysitter” subject in horror films is as dated as the years roll on by; however, it still manages to evoke some fairly simple emotions, strictly due to its simplistic approach. Anyone in charge of a young child in a big ol’ house late at night can just as easily come in possession of a serious case of the heebies, and Jaysen P. Buterin’s short film Don’t Let the Light In takes said approach and makes a mildly entertaining quickie out of it.
Jack is the little boy in question, with the young lady Sarah as his protector on this dark night, and one thing is sure: Neither one will forget this particular eventide. Are there monsters in little Jack’s room? Is Sarah believing of this wildly imaginative child? Will either one of them make it through till morning?
Buterin does an admirable job of mixing a little suspense and some freaky frights to convey a fun little story that wraps up in around 8 minutes, and while it won’t knock anyone’s socks off, it does provide for an entertaining watch. Recommended.
