Oct 23Starring Amanda Wyss, Amanda Parsons, Georgia McCorkle

Directed by Paul Santana

You’ve got to love the notion of jumping into a 10-minute short and not only recognizing a very familiar face from one of horror’s most iconic films, but having said individual hold your attention all the way through as they experience some truly chilling shit along the way!

In Paul Santana’s very creepy short film Oct. 23rd, we follow the events of the aforementioned date in the year 2011, with Karen Fernill (played by A Nightmare on Elm Street’s Wyss) there to comfort her friend Paige (Parsons) while she recounts the story about how her husband was tragically killed. The issue here is that Paige honestly believes that her young daughter, Chelsea (McCorkle), was somehow responsible… nah, couldn’t be, could it?

The 10-minute short is dark, gloomy, and atmospheric, which all adds up to a winner for Santana. The only problem here is that the film isn’t long enough, as this thing has the chops to be extended into a full-length feature if necessary.

Wyss is fantastic in depicting a woman who is paralyzed with fear on many levels, and overall this is one quickie that should ABSOLUTELY be checked out.
