Nite Nite Review – Don’t Look Under The Bed

Starring Tommie Vegas, Brady Bond, Sarah Rhoades

Directed by Chad Meisenheimer

It’s only three minutes long, so I can’t really write up an in-depth review of Chad Meisenheimer’s Nite Nite without going into obvious spoiler territory. However, I can say that despite its incredibly short runtime, Nite Nite did a more effective job of getting under your skin than many feature length films are able to do, so kudos to it for that.

The setup is also pretty straight forward: A kid asks his babysitter to check if there’s a monster under his bed. And to be honest, I don’t even think I could spoil the ending if I tried, because from that brief synopsis, you can pretty much tell what’s going to happen. This obviously isn’t a film with a lot of twists and turns, but it is a film which manages to scare you rigid within the shortest time frame possible.

Of course, the simplicity of the story combined with the short runtime meant that the actors had to work extra hard to make their performances as memorable as they could possibly be, and once again, you won’t be let down in this area, as Brady Bond and Tommie Vegas both gave their all as the kid frightened of a monster under his bed and his initially skeptical babysitter. There isn’t a whole lot more that I can say about Nite Nite, other than that you should watch it as soon as it becomes available.

  • Nite Nite
4.0

Summary

A thoroughly effective short film that does more in three minutes than most films do in ninety.
