Twiztid’s “Quarantine Movie Review”: I SEE YOU
Back again like a recurring rash, it’s your pasty pal with a potent new edition of the “Quarantine Movie Review” for your reading pleasure. In this edition we delve into the 2019 horror/thriller I See You.
Synopsis:
Strange occurrences plague a small-town detective and his family as he investigates the disappearance of a boy.
I See You is directed by Adam Randall and stars Helen Hunt, Jon Tenney, and Judah Lewis.
Now before we go any further I wanna establish that I went into this movie with the idea that it was based on some sort of alien abduction or supernatural force that was taking children like 2004’s The Forgotten… but boy was I ever wrong!
Directed by Adam Randall, the movie is quickly established as very straightforward but with every passing minute we begin to see that things certainly aren’t as they originally appear to be.
We are introduced to a term called “phrogging” which basically means sneaking into a home and living among the occupants without their knowledge. Terrifying as this concept may be most professional “phroggers” simply wanna leap from pad to pad undetected and with no ill will or desire to harm to the unknowing families. In this movie however, we meet what is considered a professional and her tag along. Although the seasoned female “phrogger” is all business and sticks to the basic rules of her sneaky trade, her male tag along clearly has different plans and almost always blatantly does everything to reveal the secret that they’re hiding.
Meanwhile the family they’re living with is comprised of a husband and wife struggling to keep their marriage together, and a bitter seething teenage son who seems to hold the mother responsible entirely for all the inner family turmoil.
Just outside the house with the troubled family and their undiscovered stowaways is a town gripped by fear because of a person (or persons) responsible for snatching several young children. Layers; this story has layers I tell you! And although you may think I’ve given all the juicy details away, fear not because I really haven’t even scratched the surface.
See this movie at least once. If you’re into interesting twists and turns, see it twice. I promise you, you’ll think twice about ever leaving a door unlocked or any entryways unattended.
Till next time, keep your popcorn buttered, your doors and windows locked, your hands washed, and your “things to watch list” full!
