Dark Legends is Spacetime Studio’s newest hit game. The new MMORPG takes on a whole new story and look. Rather than adventuring through a magical fantasy land like in Pocket Legends or blasting your way through futuristic and outer space environments in Star Legends: The Blackstar Chronicles, Dark Legends casts you as a vampire fighting against zombies, demons, werewolves and other fearsome enemies in gritty, urban environments, decrepit homes and other dreary settings.
When you start up Dark Legends, you’ll create your vampire, either male or female with a variety of looks from which to choose, and this will be the main protagonist for the length of your journey. You will then complete a tutorial which will introduce you to some important game mechanics and, more importantly, give you some intel as to who you are and why you’re fighting these numerous battles. At the beginning of the game, you’ll be fighting off zombie hordes and ghouls while trying to find out the source of the outbreak to put a stop to it, but by the end of the game, you’ll be desperate to continue playing and see the game’s satisfying conclusion.
Playing through the game will require you to complete 9 different campaigns of at least 13 missions for each campaign. You will unlock several missions at once, and once you have completed every unlocked mission, you will unlock several more. You unlock new campaigns by completing the one before it, but you can always go back to complete older missions for bonus rewards, but beware of the harder difficulty! Each mission typically requires you to either hack and slash your way through a group of enemies to reach and kill the stage’s boss, or you will be greeted with a cutscene that automatically completes your mission, a piece of story and a timer that bestows your award once it has completed. You’ll consume energy to complete missions, and you’ll have to wait on your energy to recharge to complete more missions, so playing for long stretches doesn’t happen very often. When actually in combat, this is your typical hack and slash RPG where clicking certain attacks damages enemies, and you gain experience points to level up your character and money to buy better equipment.
When not completing missions, you are allowed to visit Vampire District and all of the shops the town houses. Here you can buy better equipment, sell your old equipment or buy more items for combat. This is also where you can meet up with other players and join a guild for the true MMO experience. You can also visit the clothing store to make sure your vampire character meets your ideal description.
The game has nice graphics for a mobile game, and animations stay smooth and lag free despite being an online game with no download. The game is free to play, but purchasing the games best items will cost you platinum coins which must be bought with real life currency. The game has a catchy theme, but some of the sound effects and voice acting is poor at best. Still the game manages a good presentation with excellent controls and easy to navigate menus.
If you’re into MMORPGs, definitely give Dark Legends a try. The game is free to play, and you don’t have to download anything to play. It’s not a perfect game, but it’s a good time killer especially when you’re on the go. Try Dark Legends today; you have nothing to lose!
