A female cop is gunned down and wrongly accused of using excessive force in a hostage rescue attempt. Maniac Cop returns from the dead once more to seek revenge, destroying everything and anyone that stands in his way.
Ah, Maniac Cop 3: Badge of Silence: the 1994 follow-up to the great Maniac Cop 2. A tough act to follow and, for many fans of the previous two films, a tough film to swallow.
Anyone who has read my writings or listened to podcasts over the years should already be well aware of my love for all things Maniac Cop. Well, maybe not all things. That’s why I asked fellow Maniac Cop fan Matt Fini to join in discussing the new Blue Underground 4K remastered Blu-ray/DVD combo release of Maniac Cop 2 and its black sheep follow-up Maniac Cop 3: Badge of Silence.
64 minutes later…
Is this one of the world’s longest Blu-ray audio reviews, or should it simply be considered a special edition of the Foycast?
We spent over an hour dissecting, praising, criticizing, joking, etc., all things Maniac Cop and all aspects of the new special edition Blu-ray release of this threequel that experienced so much behind-the-scenes turmoil the finished film became yet another entry in the esteemed filmography of noted bad movie auteur Alan Smithee. Opinions tend to vary regarding the quality of Part 3, and that’s somewhat reflected in the reactions of myself and Fini.
If for no other reason you’ll want to hear this just for the opening when I bust some rhymes freestyling the Maniac Cop 2 rap. I should probably have the right to remain silent forever after doing so.
NOTE: The actual Maniac Cop 3 portion kicks in right around the 35-minute mark.
